The Next Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer

Your Rings and Certificates have been Posted!

We recently held our first virtual Iron ring Ceremony with over 600 in attendance. All the rings and certificates have been mailed, and should arrive by the end of November. Our Thanks to all who helped to make this happen, in particular the Schulich School of Engineering, and to everyone who attended.

The next Iron Ring Ceremony in Calgary is planned for March 27, 1:30 PM

We will need your ring size!  Go to any jewelry shop to get the Pinky finger of your working hand sized for a standard North American ring, it will be 1 to 12, in full and half sizes only. There should be no charge for this.

Registration for the March 27 ceremony will open in early 2021.  Graduates from other Canadian universities and professional members from APEGA will be welcome to attend as usual, space permitting.

Virtual Webinar Event We expect that the Ritual will be held on-line, as we successfully did in November. Rings and certificates will be mailed out to those who attend right after the event.

You must attend. Everyone who wishes to wear the Iron Ring must attend a Ceremony and undertake the Obligation in the presence of their peers.  This is at the core of the tradition of the Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer. If you register but are not able to attend the ceremony, we will not be able to send your ring. We are a volunteer group and  don’t do refunds, so if you miss the event we are sorry you will need to register and pay for the next one.

Are you eligible?   All students graduating with an undergraduate degree in Engineering, or practicing engineers accepted for professional membership by APEGA, are eligible to attend the Iron Ring Ceremony.  Iron Ring Camps across Canada are listed here.

When you register we may ask you to upload your diploma or other documentation such as as a transcript to validate your graduation. APEGA members will simply need to supply their APEGA registration number.
